An Implanted tooth + Yuma visiting

(Jan) About 16 months ago, I went to Venus Dental with a very sensitive tooth and thought I might be in for a root canal. Nope. It turned out that the root of the tooth was cracked and needed to be pulled. Drs. Hector and Krystal took very good care of me and did a great job getting the tooth out, bone graft material in and stitched up. I was to return in March to do the second step of the process for an Implant. That was not to be, as March found us on our way to Iowa unexpectedly. Fast forward to this fall. Dr. Hector performed surgery to implant a post in my jaw that wouldIMG_20160218_102859444 eventually hold the new tooth. Just a week ago, he was able to do the fitting and molding for the tooth and on Wednesday of this week the tooth was ready at the lab. Dr. Hector fitted and filed and worked until it was perfectly aligned. I am now IMG_20160223_173504234the owner of a new implanted tooth and could not be happier with my new full smile!

We boondocked at Paradise Casino for the first 3 days so we could go to Algodones and also, be close to the shopping opportunities. We stopped at Penny’s Diner our first morning to enjoy one of their delicious breakfasts. The following five days we were happy to be guests of Ron & Carol in the Foothills. We were delighted to spend time with these two.IMG_20160220_081405987 Besides my dental appointments, we stayed quite busy in Yuma catching up & visiting with friends; dinner with the Boomer group on Wednesday and Pegs & Jokers with Ron & Sharon after, happy hour & dinner with Ron & Carol on Saturday, Church & visiting with Joe and Carl and dinner & P&J with Dan & Jenny and Richard & Peggy on Sunday, visiting at Ron & Sharon’s on Monday, dinner with Ron & Carol and Frank & Dianne on Tuesday. Whew!

And I did get my new Ukulele! It’s beautiful instrument and I’m very much hoping in a couple of years I’ll be able to play it!

Ajo & Fiddlers Contest with the Boondockers

(Jan) There is life after Boomerville! Chuck & I spent four night at the Elks in Sun Ciity, Az looking around and visiting friends.  We enjoyed having lunch at Senor Taco and had a wonderful Friday night Fish dinner at the Peoria Cafe. It’s one of our friend’s Bobbie & Jim’s favorite restuarants. We and Jim & Diane joined them there for good baked potatoes & coleslaw and 3 huge pieces of delicious Cod. Yum!  We then adjourned to Jim & Diane’s for a really fun game or two of Pegs & IMG_20160211_135200068Jokers. The guys & gals split wins.

Next stop; Ajo. It was our friend Dean’s birthday so we joined he and Judy at the Ajo Roping Arena where they were staying with the Boondocking Group. Boondocking at the Roping Arena is $3/night, $15/week and $25/month. There is water & a dump available. It’s good to be with these two friends again & celebrate with ice IMG_20160207_150114523cream & Birthday cake. Through the next eleven days we joined the Boondocker group for many Happy Hours and an evening Fire.  We also went over to the Golf Course where they were holding their Annual Fiddler’s Contest. There were fiddlers from Kids to Gaffers doing all kinds of Fiddling. Here’s a photo of crowd favorite, Henry The Fiddler. Yes, that is his name!

Mark & Judie were also in the Ajo area for the first several days so they joined us for a Super Bowl Party! Even though the big game wasn’t overly exciting, it was a really great time with good friends and good food & drinks. Friends Duane & Betty and Ed & Jan, who were not with us, are huge Denver Bronco Fans so we had fun texting during the Broncos IMG_20160209_164042164victory.

When we were at Boomerville a group of Ukulele players got together to jam & for sing alongs. Two of them, Judy & Dave and Linda, who plays the Recorder, are also Boondockers. One evening they got together12715252_10207206482293568_7010687946176300565_n and entertained at the evening Bonfire. So fun! I just helped sing that night but  have been bit by the Uke Bug! By borrowing a spare Ukulele from Dave, I was able to get acquaited over our time at Ajo. And a new Uke, bag, tuner and music book were ordered a waiting for me in Yuma.

One night Dean & Judy’s friends from Ajo joined us for Happy Hour and dinner. We were delighted to meet Bill & Dorothy and had a very fun evening. Another afternoon we got out the Booce Balls for a Desert Game. Believe it or not, Judy & I finally beat the guys 2-1.

IMG_20160213_180233360 Here we are having Happy Hour and waiting for the sunset on top of Childs Mountain near Ajo, AZ. It's a Ranger lead drive that happens the 2nd Saturday of each month. The company and Sunset were superb! IMG_20160213_180207943

Other highlights were walking, beading with the Boondocker ladies, a fabulous Mexican food lunch at Marcela’s and playing Bingo at the local Elks to support H.S. Scholarships. Especially fun since Judy won the final Jack Pot! Here’s a photo of the Boondocker Group.Boondockers2016a
