More family time at the farm

(Jan) We have always enjoyed the view from the front windows at our farm house. It overlooks the farm fields to the south; this year those fields are growing soybeans. It was a wet, cold spring here but early last week the weather turned very hot and humid; the kind of weather that’s not so pleasant for us humans but perfect for growing crops. My brother told me that a friend of his measured his corn plants from Sunday afternoon to Wednesday. In 4 days, less 2 hours, the corn plants grew 22 inches!

The last time my sister and brothers and I were all together was last July. We rejoined forces at the farm Tuesday evening as brother Ron, Scarlet and nephew John arrived from California, sister Linda and Richard from Kansas and brother Glen and Mary Ann came over from near by Templeton, Iowa. Our son Josh and family were able to stay for dinner that evening before heading back to the Kansas City area where they will catch their flight back to Seattle. It was wonderful to have them staying at our house and they will sure be missed! But back to the action…after dinner we all headed out to the patio to reminisce, tell stories and catch up on each other’s lives. What a joy to be together again! Our two pyro-maniacs, Ron and John, had fun entertaining us with fireworks later in the evening. Above are Scarlet and Glen and Richard, Mary Ann, Chuck and I. Ron’s and Linda’s stayed at our house so we enjoyed mornings over a cups of coffee and breakfast before they headed to Halbur to visit with mom and dad. Here’s Linda and Ron. That afternoon we went to Yellowsmoke and to enjoy the beautiful views and the nice weather. Ron, Scarlet and John did some kayaking, too….thanks again Mary.

That evening the brothers and sister’s plus parents reconvened at Glen’s house for another feast; wonderful food, great conversations and fun golf cart ride around the city of Templeton. It has been an amazing week of family conversations and visits! We are indeed blessed.
