(Jan A ten day escape to ‘The Steps’ south of Lake Havasu was enjoyed by the Moores. Many Boomers joined us there for one or more of the following; Ed’s BD Party, the annual Western Pyrotechnics display, hiking, seeing the sights in Lake Havasu, going to the Desert Bar or just the group camaraderie! For us it was all of the above except the fireworks! We’re told that they remain a marvelous show but we don’t like sitting in the cold waiting for 4 hours for the fireworks show or the traffic jam after. The photo at right shows part of the Steps area. We’re the dark MH on the left.
Sunday night we hosted a ‘Burn your own’ for our neighbors on Steps 1 & 2. Everyone brought what they wanted to grill and a side dish to share. Great, food, fun time!

A group walk/hike to the Lake was enjoyed on Monday by 9 of us while Chuck & Bruce took off up into the hills. In the following days, the Richmonds and Moores did three different hikes; two of them at the Steps toward the lake and the Picnic Table Hike at Lizard Peak. (Click on the Link to read about it.) All were an fun hikes with good friends and I’m happy to report my ankle held up well!
Others activities included Gisela’s neighborhood Taco Party for Bill’s BD, an impromptu grill out the last night w/Richmonds, Domenicks and Billers, and of course, Ed’s BD Party! If you’d like to know more about the origins of Ed's BD Party read Chuck’s last year’s Blog. It was a fun event again this year with a great group of Boomers.
On Sunday about 20 or so Boomers took fun trip to the solar powered Desert Bar, (click on the link to read about it.). After leaving the highway near Parker, AZ, it’s a gorgeous gravel road trek back out into mining country. Eight of us got there early & hiked the hills before posing for our photo in front of the Church silhouette next to the Nellie E Saloon. After a delicious Philly Steak sandwich and a mountain of fries, Chuck & I climbed the hill behind and above the bar and he made a great video.
We’ve moved to the Yuma area and will be here for an extended period of time.
